on DLA
We are appalled
that this decision has been announced as a cost cutting measure,
revealing the intention for the medical assessments to reduce
the numbers of people
receiving this essential support. As a charity supporting people
with muscle disease
we have particular concerns about these assessments because, as
with many rare
illnesses, many medical staff do not have the expertise or knowledge
of the condition
to make a fair assessment. Read

Wheelchair Report
Health Minister
Paul Burstow MP with campaigners, Baroness Thomas of Winchester
and Robert Meadowcroft. The Muscular Dystrophy Campaign today
launched its hard-hitting new report, Get Moving - the case for
effective Wheelchair Services, at an event in the Houses of Parliament
hosted by All Party Parliamentary Group for Muscular Dystrophy

Dave Anderson MP, and attended by over 90 families, supporters,
clinicians and

Summer Issue 15
Welcome
to our special 25th anniversary edition. My thanks to Martin Fielden
for taking on the
role of news editor. The last twelve months have been very busy
for our group; we have had the Autumn Get together in Oxford which
saw eighty five members in attendance, and the recent
Mega Spring Get Together held at the Holiday Inn,
Haydock. This was our first full weekend venture but proved to
be very popular with forty two members staying over for the whole

Spring Mega
Weekend
If you weren't there the chances are you may have
thought "Spring Mega Weekend Get Together", that's setting
the bar pretty high. However, I was there with my wife Gill and
I can report that the imaginary bar was well and truly cleared.
The whole weekend was excellent with a very varied programme,
something for everyone really.........read

Bradford and Glasgow September
2009
The MDC annual
conferences were held in Bradford and Glasgow this year, for the
first time our group had a presence at both events. Our stand
attracted
a lot of interest especially our new banner, logo and display
board. We were also pleased to introduce our latest member "FiSHer
